Modernization

Modernize an aging elevator. Don't replace it.

Bring an existing system up to current code and current performance, without the cost or downtime of a full replacement.

The case for modernization

Older elevators slow buildings down. Longer waits. Higher energy bills. Dated cab interiors that don't match the rest of the property. Parts that get harder to source every year.

Our modernization work fixes all of that without ripping the whole system out. Almost always faster and cheaper than a full replacement.

Why modernize

Six reasons it pays off.

  • Current code compliance

Updated safety hardware and controls that meet current ASME A-17.1, not the 1990s standards your aging system was built to.

  • Faster dispatch

Microprocessor controllers move cars more efficiently between calls. Tenants wait less without you touching the cab or shaft.

  • Lower energy draw

Variable-frequency drives cut motor power consumption 20–40% on most retrofits. Pays for itself faster on traction systems than hydraulic.

  • Updated cab finishes

New panels, lighting, flooring, and call fixtures while the existing hoistway stays intact. A fraction of the cost of a full replacement.

  • Parts you can still buy

Modernized systems use current-production components. No more chasing down obsolete relays and out-of-warranty controllers.

  • Property value

A modernized elevator helps retain tenants and supports a higher building appraisal. Both matter when you go to lease or sell.

Our process

Five steps. Every modernization.

Every modernization is different, but every project follows the same disciplined sequence.

  1. 01

    Assessment

We walk the equipment, list what's worth modernizing, and write a real proposal. The order of work depends on what your building can tolerate and what the budget allows.

  2. 02

    Customization

We pick finishes, cab materials, and call fixtures that fit your building. Brass on the older properties, brushed steel on the newer ones, whatever lines up with the rest of the lobby.

  3. 03

    Installation

Our crew does the install in phases so you don't lose the elevator longer than necessary. We coordinate downtime with your building manager ahead of time.

  4. 04

    Testing & certification

Before the elevator goes back into service, we test every component and pull the inspection certificates the state requires.

  5. 05

    Ongoing maintenance

A modernization is only as good as how it's maintained. We'll write a plan that covers the new equipment from the day it goes back into service.
